Barro Negro (black clay) is specific to the Central Valley region of San Bartolo Coyotepec in Oaxaca, México. Working this clay into stunning everyday functional objects has been a tradition of Zapotec groups for many decades and it is often finished with a polish so the clay has a slight metallic-like sheen to it. These mugs are great for hot beverages, but can also make perfect cocktail cups.
