Yes, this might be a bit unconventional, but I just love a splash of orange blossom water in my margaritas. The floral addition gives it a different depth of flavor that is perfect layered with the fresh lime, triple sec and tequila in this recipe. Grab your favorite rocks glass (check out my vintage Culver mariposa glass) and cheers! And for your guests wanting just a straight up shot of tequila, check out our beautiful Tequila Cup Set imported from México. Or shop our Barware Collection.
Note: Tools needed include a cocktail shaker and lime squeezer or juicer, but you can work around it if you don't have these items.
Ingredients
1 each Lime (for this recipe, you will use 1 small wedge or 1/6 of a lime)
-
1/4 cup Course Salt
1 cup Ice
1 1/2 ounces (1 shot) Tequila Blanco
3/4 ounces (1/2 shot) Triple Sec
-
1/4 cup Fresh Lime Juice (approx. 2 limes)
splash Orange Blossom Water
Salted Rim (optional)
Margarita
Directions
Salted Rim (optional)
To get lime wedge, cut the lime in half lengthwise then cut three wedges from each half lime to yield 6 small wedges total.
Using your knife, carefully make a slit across the inside center of each lime wedge.
Place salt on shallow dish that has enough flat surface to cover at least the diameter of your glass.
Run one lime wedge around the rim of your glass and set lime wedge aside.
Dip rim of glass into salt and add as much salt as desired. Set glass aside.
Margarita
Juice 2 whole limes using a lime squeezer or juicer. Alternatively, you can do it by hand but might not extract as much juice.
Add ice to cocktail shaker. If you don't have a cocktail shaker, just add straight to glass and stir instead.
Add the margarita ingredients to shaker.
Place lid on the shaker and shake vigorously for about 10-15 seconds.
Remove lid and pour margarita with ice into rocks glass.
Place lime wedge on rim and enjoy!
Recipe Note
1. Orange blossom water can be found in many specialty grocery stores and definitely in most Middle Eastern supermarkets. It can also be found online and I tend to like to Sadaf brand. Their rosewater is also delicious in cocktails!
2. If you're just not into the flavor of the orange blossom water adds to this (otherwise) classic margarita recipe, just go ahead and eliminate it and everything else can stay the same.
